Physical Fitness Test Baseline--What's my ground zero?

Updated: Feb 16

Documenting The Journey

The primary focus of "Operation Reform Rob" is to document my journey to heal physically and mentally, reduce pain, and just overall feel better. I think it would be relevent to document a starting point, to establish a beginning, or ground zero, that we could refer back to for comparison over time. This will help in analyzing what parts of the program are working.

There is enough pressure on body style and weight, what is optimal or "normal", and it is not my intention to add any more pressure to myself or anyone from that standpoint. I am not going to take half naked photos of myself to post for the world to see me in all my glory! I'm sure there will be great dismay from all my cheering fans out there, but prepare for that disappointment people!

Body Measurements

I'm going to start today by getting some basic body measurements for baseline, weight, chest, waist, and thigh circumference. Then I'm going to do a bit of a physical fitness test, or PFT, that will include a timed 3 mile run, max pullups, max situps in 1 minute, and max pushups in 1 minute.

Today, January 10th I weigh right on 190 pounds. My other measurements are as follows: Chest 45 1/2"; Waist 39"; and Thigh 20 1/2". I'm embarassed to report I had to pull my stomach fat roll up out of the way to see the measurement of my waist, but that was alleviated, at least a little, by my chest measurement at least being the larger of the two!

190--Ouch!

At least my chest is bigger than my waist!!!

Physical Fitness Test Baseline

My physical fitness test results were as follows:

3 Mile Run--39:02

Pullups--1 (mostly one)

Situps--26

Pushups--26

Frankly, I'm embarassed and a bit disheartened, especially by my strenght results in pullups and pushups. I know what those figures "used to be" (that is a dangerous phrase!). But I'm going to shake it off and recognize this as the beginning that it is. I intend to look back on this physical fitness baseline and smile at the progress I've made!

Well, I'm going to consider this my first step! Until next time...

PEACE!
